Informatics Maturity Working Group Mission and Vision
Mission
To advance the science, education, and application of formal Maturity Models and Maturity Assessment Tools in the fields of healthcare and biomedicine and to inspire practitioners with a vision of what can be achieved.
Vision
Maturity Models are developed that encompass all of the critical informatics activities of AMIA members; that these models are enabled by ubiquitously applied assessment tools; and that these maturity assessments guide informatics strategy and investment at the organizations.
Goals
- Teach others about the methods and applications of maturity models, leading to expanded benchmarking and use in research and practice across the informatics community.
- Provide a forum and home within AMIA for informatics professionals working with
- maturity models.
- Provide a forum for dissemination of best practices in the development, application, and evaluation of maturity models in informatics for further dissemination within healthcare organizations.
Proposed Activities and Outcomes
- Sponsor pre-symposium workshop for the AMIA annual meeting
- Sponsored maturity-related panels and other submissions for AMIA meetings
- F2F meeting at AMIA Symposium
- Solicit funding to support an award for the best maturity submission at the AMIA meeting in the future.
- Provide mentoring and exchange of best practices
- Provide inter-institutional benchmarking by sponsoring cross-institutional surveys of
- maturity different maturity axes
- Conduct one or more webinars with experts in maturity to teach AMIA members the best
- ways to apply maturity at their institutions
