The Clinical Informatics fellowship is a 2-year ACGME-accredited fellowship that is a combination of inpatient rotations with the listed participating sites and online courses that are offered through supporting universities. Participating sites include LSU Health/Ochsner in Shreveport, LA, the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA, and Ochsner in New Orleans, LA. The fellowship is approved for 4 slots, with 2 fellows at each post-graduate year. Through the courses made available, fellows will have the opportunity to obtain a Master of Health Informatics (MHI) degree from Louisiana Tech University. Following completion of the fellowship, fellows will be eligible for ABMS board certification.
Clinical Informatics is defined by ACGME as the “subspecialty of all medical specialties that transforms health care by analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating information and communication systems to improve patient care, enhance access to care, advance individual and population health outcomes and strengthen the clinician-patient relationship.”
